2018 North Carolina Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Summit: Day One Keynote Speaker: Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs!

NCCASA is thrilled to announce that our opening keynote for the 2018 NC Sexual Violence Primary Prevention Summit is author, scholar, and activist Dr. Alexis Pauline Gumbs!! Dr. Gumbs will be delivering her keynote address, Generative Apocalypse: Preparing for a World Free from Sexual Violence, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, day one of the Summit.  We are beyond thrilled that Dr. Gumbs will be joining us. If you are unfamiliar with her work, below is her bio, along with a couple video links. Alexis Pauline Gumbs PhD, is the author of M Archive: After the End of the World, Spill: Scenes of Black Feminist Fugitivity and co-editor of Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the Front Lines.  She is a founding member of UBUNTU a Durham-based a women of color and survivor-led coalition to end gendered violence that emerged in the wake of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case.  She has written and facilitated widely on the topic of c-creating a world free from gendered and sexual violence, including the short story “Evidence” in the anthology Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements.  Alexis is currently the visiting Winton Chair of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota.
