NCCASA’s upcoming regional PREA training will have co-trainers from Just Detention International (JDI) in Davidson County, NC! This 1 1/2 day training from March 11-12th will dive into how victim advocates and their local jails, prisons, and correctional facilities can work together to provide services to incarcerated victims of sexual assault. The first half day will serve as a primer to establishing a foundation around PREA and the second day will dive into deeper details around PREA. A strong focus will be made on partnering with your local facilities, so share this information with the jails and prisons in your community! This same training will be offered in May in the Western Region of the state for those whose travel will be to far.
For this training, NCCASA is offering full scholarship support to cover all travel associated with the training. In order to cover all costs, the rape crisis center must be a member of NCCASA. The rape crisis center must also invite their local facility to join in the training as well. If you are a rape crisis center that serves 3 or more counties, to receive scholarship support you must send two advocates along with one representative from your local facility. Scholarship support will be provided on a reimbursement basis. This scholarship will also cover any costs for your partners from local correctional facilities, as well.
