Monica Kearney is the Executive Director of Safe Space, Inc. the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault services agency in Franklin County since 2014.
Monica has over twenty years of experience in the social work profession. Her roles as a social worker have included nonprofit management and leadership, early childhood education, public health, community outreach, and education.
Monica holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of New England, and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Social Work Administration and Leadership from Walden University. Monica is a member of the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society, the National Society on Leadership Success, and the Golden Key International Honor Society. She also has a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and is a graduate of the NC Center for NonProfits Spring 2021 Nonprofit Management Institute.
Monica is a trailblazer for those issues which impede the health and well-being of the community. The biggest part of her is her heart and love for humanity. Her lifelong personal and professional experiences fuel her passion and commitment to enhancing programs for people who suffer from the traumatic experiences of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault in Franklin County. Her spirituality, family, and network of friends, keep her grounded and are the source of her strength and commitment.
