SUMMARY:Comprehensive Medical Advocacy with Survivors of Sexual Violence
DESCRIPTION:This is the 3rd webinar in our medical advocacy webinar series. In this webinar, we will discuss the medical advocacy needs of survivors of sexual violence across the lifespan and throughout the healing journey.  We will also explore the role of the advocate and the advocacy program in helping survivors find healing and health after sexual violence.\nPresenter Bios:\nKris Bein is the Assistant Director for the Resource Sharing Project at the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault, where she provides training and technical assistance to state and territorial sexual assault coalitions and rural dual/multi-service advocacy agencies on sexual assault services and advocacy skills. Kris has been a part of the anti-violence movement since 1995. She provided medical and legal advocacy to sexual assault survivors and institutional advocacy in rural southern Illinois before coming to the RSP. Kris holds a master’s degree in Human Services, specialization in Social Services Administration, from the University of Illinois.\nValerie Davis has been part of the anti-violence movement since 1995 and currently works with the Resource Sharing Project as the Sexual Assault Demonstration Initiative TA Specialist providing training and technical assistance to dual/multi-service programs on enhancing and building comprehensive sexual assault services.  Valerie holds a master’s degree in Public Administration, with a concentration in domestic violence, from the University of Colorado Denver.  Prior to her work with the RSP, Valerie worked as an advocate and Program Director for a dual domestic violence and sexual assault program within a larger multi-service agency for fifteen years. Over the course of her career in the anti-violence movement, Valerie has been responsible for program development, supervision and mentoring of staff and volunteers, ensuring quality services, grant management, sustainability, community partnerships, training, and direct service.\n
